An Holistic & Somatic Approach to Trauma – 6CEUs
Trauma impacts every part of a person’s being: their thoughts, emotions, physiology, and basic sense of the world. In this training, you will learn holistic and somatic therapeutic methods and techniques to help your clients heal in the safest and most sensitive way possible. Join us for this part didactic, part experiential workshop in which you will learn:
- How to understand traumatic impact and impairment through the lens of neuroscience and the body
- How to offer your clients psycho-education about trauma so that their experience is normalized
- Fundamental Trauma interventions, including self-regulation and grounding techniques, cognitive restructuring, titrating traumatic material with resourcing, and traumatic sequencing
- Powerful techniques that draw from mindfulness and somatic-based modalities as well as integrated psychodynamic, cognitive and behavioral theories.
- How to manage secondary traumatic stress and clinician self-care in and out of the treatment room
Mind-Body Approaches to Treating Chronic Pain – 3CEs
Pain affects more Americans than diabetes, heart disease, and cancer combined and it is the most common cause of long-term disability. It affects all aspects of daily life. People living with chronic pain report sleep disturbance, low energy, mood changes, difficulty coping with stress, tension with relationships, social isolation, and more. They are also at risk for substance abuse disorders, including addiction to pain medications. Biomedical treatments are insufficient to address the complexity of chronic pain conditions, and interdisciplinary approaches including psychotherapy are recommended. This workshop will focus on mind-body approaches to addressing chronic pain. We will review the evidence-based treatmens, address the stigma clients may face seeking treatment from a mental health professional for pain and how to engage them, discuss the benefits and challenges of working with an interdisciplinary team, and explore case studies of clients coping with chronic pain.
Adopt Healing: Adoptee-Informed Interventions for Adoptees, Their Families & Communities – 3 CEUs
Effective Approaches for Management of Personality Disorders & High Intensity Situations – 6 CEUs
Meeting clients with deeply ingrained personality disorders and/or high conflict and intense situations can be an inevitable aspect of working in the field of mental health. In this interactive, dynamic and informative workshop participants will will gain essential knowledge for assessing and treating personality disorders. Participants will also learn and practice effective tools and interventions for the management of high intensity situations such as clients who may display demanding, angry, aggressive, dependent, obsessional and other challenging behaviors. Real life case examples will be presented and cutting edge theory and practice methods will be discussed.
Embodied Psychotherapy – How to Integrate Mind-Body and Experiential Techniques into Psychotherapy – 6 CEUs
We are embodied individuals and our bodies express and hold invaluable information important for our healing process and overall personal growth. This information is ever-present in our sessions with our clients. Often though we can feel unsure about how to address or work with the “embodied content” as it emerges in our work with our clients especially in safe, non-intrusive ways. In this 6 hour experiential workshop, we will explore and practice with a different mind-body techniques drawn from different practices such as Focusing, Gestalt, Mindfulness, Psychodrama/Role Play, Yoga and Guided Imagery.

This unique, small group and supportive learning environment is geared towards enhancing your clinical skills essential in building and sustaining your therapeutic relationships with your clients. while being in a small and supportive group learning environment. This clinical skills enhancement series will utilize a small group supervision format and various learning methods ranging from didactic instruction, case presentations, role play and peer to peer feedback and discussion.
As this will be a sage, interactive, collaborative, dynamic and active learning environment, group members will be encouraged to present and enrich their peers with their unique clinical experiences and practice wisdom. Reading materials and articles will be provided in advance, so participants can come prepared to supervision sessions.
Each group will focus on the development of a specific skills set. Each group members will be requested to present case/cases from her/his therapeutic work.
